Statewide communicable disease conference held in Wrightsville Beach
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of public health workers from across the state came together in Wrightsville Beach for the Annual Communicable Disease Conference talking everything from Anthrax to Zika.
The conference focused on all communicable diseases including some of the most common like Whooping Cough and bacterial infections.
One of the Nurse Consultants Susan Sullivan said this was a great opportunity for nurses to speak with experts about emerging diseases.
“We in public health look at our laws and try to make sure that they are keeping up with the science that we have and that we have data about so that we keep our populations safe and keep our nurses updated about the latest guidelines,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan said Wilmington has been a local leader in public health around the state and was excited to have had the conference at Wrightsville Beach.
