Wilmington Waffle House closes after grill fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington Waffle House is closed following a grill fire Wednesday night, according to officials.

Wilmington Fire Department Assistant Chief Sammy Flowers says crews responded to the fire at 5041 Market Street and saw moderate flames when they first arrived. He says a quick attack kept the fire confined.

Flowers says this was an accidental fire that started under the griddle.

He says there was enough damage that the Waffle House remains closed until repairs can be made.

There were no injuries.
