Three men sentenced as habitual felons on drug charges in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– From forging prescriptions to selling heroin, three men pleaded guilty to a variety of drug charges in Brunswick County.

They were sentenced as habitual felons.

According to a news release, William Craig McKoy of Rowland, pleaded guilty to two counts of obtaining oxycodone and fentanyl by fraud.

McKoy was arrested by the Shallotte Police Department after they were alerted by a pharmacy that he had presented a suspicious prescription. The investigation revealed that he was part of a pill trafficking ring that was paying him to obtain opiates by passing forged prescriptions from multiple pharmacies. He was sentenced as a habitual felon to a minimum of 40 months to a maximum of 60 months in prison.

William Daniel Bowman, Jr. of Wilmington, pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin.

Bowman was arrested after he was observed selling heroin by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. He was sentenced as a habitual felon to a minimum of 44 months to a maximum of 65 months in prison.

Khiry Devon Hamilton of Shallotte, pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine.

Hamilton was arrested after probation officers searching his home found cocaine, marijuana, and heroin packaged for sale along with scales, a grinder, and packaging materials. He was sentenced as a habitual felon to a minimum of 50 months to a maximum of 72 months in prison.
