Ocean Isle Beach man charged with child sex crimes

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An Ocean Isle Beach man accused of raping a 14-year-old mentally disabled girl is in the Brunswick County Detention Center.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested Russell James Stevens, 55, on Wednesday.

Stevens is charged with the following:

  • Statutory sexual offense
  • Indecent liberties with child
  • 3 counts of statutory sexual offense
  • 3 counts of indecent liberties with child
  • 3 counts of 2nd degree forcible rape
  • 3 counts statutory rape

According to warrants, the alleged crimes happened between April 2015 and January 2016.

Stevens is behind held on a $1 million bond.
