Carolina Beach hits the brakes on Freeman Park land

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach is putting the breaks on obtaining land at Freeman Park.

Town Manager Michael Cramer says the notice of intent to obtain property by imminent domain that was issued in March has been rescinded.

In it’s place, the town issued new notice of intent Friday for a easement from the toe of the dune to the high water mark.

The easement will be to run pipeline for beach renourishment due to start in November.

Cramer says the town is now focusing on renourishment authorization.

It may address property purchase later.
