Man sentenced up to 31 years for Bolton murder
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The man arrested in the 2017 murder of a Bolton man is going to prison.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Charles Wilson pleaded guilty to second degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
That’s where they found Marion Shaw, 65, shot in his upper body.
The following day, U.S. Marshals and law enforcement officers arrested Wilson at the Walmart on Market Street in Wilmington.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation investigated the shooting.
During the sentencing hearing the several members of the victim’s family recounted the joy that the victim had brought to their family and also detailed the anguish they felt with his loss.
The defendant during the sentencing hearing apologized to the family of the victim and detailed how drug addiction had led him to these tragic events.
Judge Douglas B. Sasser sentenced Wilson to between 25 and 31 years behind bars for shooting and killing Marion Shaw, 65.
