Neighbors exchange gunshots during Tabor City home break-in
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is accused of breaking into his neighbor’s home and then exchanging gunshots with the man who lived there.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 11:30 Thursday night.
Deputies responded to Tillman Avenue in Tabor City in reference to shots fired.
The couple who live in the home told investigators that Edward Deron Riggins, 28, who also lives on Tillman Avenue, attempted to enter their residence.
Riggins then allegedly began firing shots into the home.
One of the homeowners fired back and shot Riggins.
Riggins was driven to the hospital.
After being treated for his injuries, he was arrested. Riggins is currently in the J Rueben Long Detention Center in Conway, South Carolina.
No word yet on the charges he will face in Columbus County.
