Surfers shred Wrightsville Beach waves for annual surf contest
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Surfers from California to Barbados to the Cape Fear will be shredding the surf in Wrightsville Beach this weekend for an annual surf contest.
The 13th Annual O’Neill Sweetwater Pro-Am Surf Fest got underway Friday. It’s the second largest surf contest on the East Coast.
Heats for professional and amateur divisions run Friday and Saturday with finals on Sunday.
If you would like to see it, the contest is happening near the Birmingham Street beach access starting at 8 a.m.
