Construction underway for new multi-use path near Empie Park

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Construction is underway near Empie Park for a new trail as a part of the River-to-Sea bike route.

According to the City of Wilmington, the construction is on a half-mile of 10-foot wide multi-use path along Park Avenue from Empie Park to Audubon Boulevard.

The project includes two bridges, one of which will intersect with the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail, providing a second connection between the Cross-City Trail and the River-to-Sea route. Work on this phase is slated for done later this year.

A second phase of this multi-use path is planned for later in 2018 and will continue the multi-use path from Audubon Boulevard all the way to Kerr Avenue.
