Police: ‘Drug deal gone bad’ led to afternoon Wilmington shooting
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Police say a “drug deal gone bad” led to a recent shooting in Wilmington, injuring an 18-year-old man.
Around 3:25 p.m. Monday, Wilmington police responded to Cypress Grove Apartments in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, officers found an 18-year-old suffering from a non-life-threatening wound, which police said appeared to be life-threatening at the time.
WPD says detectives now know the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone bad.
According to police, the gun found at the scene, and photographed by a witness, belonged to the 18-year-old.
The investigation continues.
