Flags placed along 1,500 graves of veterans at area cemeteries

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Veteran’s Day is Sunday. In advance, flags are being placed on graves of veterans at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington.

There are already American flags and specific branch flags on some graves and more will be put down Saturday.

The Laney High School JROTC helps place about 1,500 flags at Oakdale and Pine Forest cemeteries each year.

They will start putting flags down at 1 p.m. Saturday.
