Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program shares update on hatchlings

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Lots of sea turtles are emerging from the sand at Oak Island.
This video from the Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program shows groups of hatchlings making their way to the ocean.
Volunteers set up paths to guide the sea turtles safely.
The nesting season runs from May 1 to October 31.
The group said so far, 75 nests have been found, and about a third have hatched.
Late July and August are the peak times for turtle hatchlings.
