UNCW cancels all on-campus events through Sunday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW announced Friday evening that out of a continued abundance of caution, all on-campus events are cancelled through Sunday, September 21.
UNCW said there continues to be no credible threat to campus.
The University Police Department continues to work with local, state and federal partners to conduct a full investigation into the events that led to yesterdayâs shelter-in-place, and all other received intimidating posts, tips and reports.
Currently, classes are scheduled to proceed on Monday, but UNCW is evaluating modality and other options. The university said they will communicate updates via email by 6 p.m. Saturday, September 20 unless conditions warrant earlier messaging.

Monitor your UNCW email and UNCW Alerts for official updates. Please do not rely on social media channels as your source for emergency alerts and updates.

If you see or hear any threat to your safety, othersâ safety or campus safety (or other concerning email, phone or social media messages), donât hesitate â immediately forward to the University Police Department by calling 911 or (910) 962-2222 or forward to police@uncw.edu.

All employees should continue to observe Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) of⯠UNCW Policy 08.221 through September 21.
