Ingram Planetarium presents ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘Trans Siberian Orchestra’ laser light shows

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — An original production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, presented in dancing laser lights will be featured on Friday and Saturday nights at Ingram Planetarium.

Ingram Planetarium said Laser Nutcracker is narrated along with a unique artistic presentation of the music.

Laser Trans Siberian Orchestra is also presented each Friday and Saturday night.

In addition to these evening presentations, daytime feature Mystery of the Christmas Star, a full-dome film that takes viewers back more than 2000 years to Bethlehem to discover a scientific explanation for the star the wise men followed to find the baby Jesus.

Here’s a look at the Planetarium’s schedule November 6 through December 31:

Dome Theater Shows:  Doors open at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday through Saturday

11 a.m.      Accidental Astronauts – Follow the adventures of Cy and Annie and their dog Armstrong as they embark on an unexpected journey into space!
12 p.m.     Forward to the Moon – Kari Byron from Crash Test World and MythBusters launches us on a journey beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program, named after the Greek moon goddess and twin of Apollo, is the next step in our mission to explore the universe and land the first woman and person of color on the surface of the moon.
1 p.m.        Mystery of the Christmas Star – Journey back over 2000 years to Bethlehem as we seek to discover a scientific explanation for the star the wise men followed to find the baby Jesus.
2 p.m.        Unseen Earth (New!) –  This show presents the story of how satellite technologies have revolutionized our understanding of our home. We witness Earth not merely as a static blue marble but as a dynamic, ever-changing ecosystem.
3 p.m.        The Sky Tonight! – Tour the planets, constellations, and other celestial events happening in the night sky above our community. Then, next time you walk along the beach on a clear night, you’ll be able to identify the celestial sights you see.

Laser Music Shows: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday

6 p.m.       Laser Trans Siberian Orchestra – Blending stunning visuals with their symphonic rock sound, Laser Trans-Siberian Orchestra captivates audiences with intricate laser designs and powerful compositions, showcasing the orchestra’s depth and holiday spirit, making it perfect for music lovers and families.
7 p.m.        Laser Nutcracker – Waltz of the Snowflakes, The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and much more from Tchaikovsky’s ballet and suite are set to dazzling laser and planetarium effects.
