A $5,000 reward for anybody who helps find suspect in hit-and-run
Wilmington, NC (WWAY)– The family of a Wilmington man says there’s a five-thousand-dollar reward for anyone who can help in finding a suspect after a hit and run.
Last Wednesday evening, the Wilmington Police Department got an alert of a hit-and-run incident near the 4200 block of Independence Boulevard. Walter Hind was riding on his bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle. Police say the driver drove off.
Now his family is looking for help from the community to find the driver.
Denise Hinds-Zaami, Hynd’s sister, has great memories alongside him, but is distraught to see him with facial, hand and spinal fractures.
“I am here because it’s time to extubate him, he hasn’t been breathing since he has been here, breathing on his own that is. Now we are trying to see if he can sustain his own breath”, said Hinds-Zaami
Wilmington Police announced on Wednesday that they believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2018 or 2019 Jeep Wrangler missing its passenger side mirror. If you have any information, contact Wilmington Police.
