Shallotte fire kills one person, leaves another person and firefighter injured

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — One person is dead following a house fire that occurred Saturday afternoon in Shallotte.

Just before 2:00 p.m., the Shallotte Police and Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 4730 Milliken Street, with someone possibly trapped inside.

Police officers were able to remove one person from the home, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Firefighters then found another person dead inside the home.

Their identity has not yet been released.

A firefighter was also injured while dealing with the fire and was taken to Brunswick Novant Medical Center to be treated and was later released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
