New Hanover County Main Library hits a setback with second-floor repairs
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Less than a year after its grand opening in downtown Wilmington, the New Hanover County Main Library is facing temporary closures as crews work to address building issues.
The second floor of the library, located at 230 Grace Street, is closed while renovations are underway. The floor includes the teen book section, research materials, and several meeting rooms.
According to city officials, the manufacturer and contractors who worked on the building are replacing areas affected by defects that caused some surfaces to peel. It will not cost anything, as it is under warranty.
The second floor is expected to reopen on July 21.
