Veteran-owned Delaney Tire and Auto opens doors in Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A local, veteran-owned tire shop is expanding into Brunswick County with the opening of its newest location in Leland.

Wilmington-based “Delaney Tire & Auto” celebrated its grand opening Saturday by welcoming the community to tour the new facility, enjoy food from local vendors, win prizes, and take part in family-friendly activities.

One of the day’s biggest attractions was the display of the No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet Camaro driven by NASCAR champion Chase Elliott, giving racing fans a chance to get an up-close look at one of NASCAR’s most recognizable cars.

David Delaney Jr., assistant manager of the Leland store and son of the company’s owner, said opening a location in Leland has been a long-term goal for the family business.

“I’ve met every type of person you can think of. They have been awesome people that live right behind us, across the street, even people that come from Wilmington that come to see us. It’s been really awesome to meet the people around here,” Delaney said.
