Multiple agencies respond to house fire in Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Leland on Thursday afternoon that sent heavy smoke and flames through the roof of a home.

According to the Town of Leland Fire Department, crews responded to the structure fire at approximately 3:24 p.m. The first engine arrived on scene just four minutes later and found heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof.

Firefighters from multiple agencies worked together to bring the fire under control and extinguish the blaze. Crews also assisted the family with recovering personal belongings from the home.

The American Red Cross responded to assist the family affected by the fire.

Several agencies assisted at the scene, including Winnabow Fire, Northwest Fire, Navassa Fire, New Hanover County Fire Rescue, Wilmington Fire Department, Leland Police Department, Town of Leland Building Inspections, Brunswick County EMS and Duke Energy.

The fire department also thanked Brunswick County Communications for coordinating radio traffic during the response, as well as Pender County Fire and Tri-Beach Fire for providing station coverage in Leland while crews remained at the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
