Holly Ridge Police to host prescription drug take back event Oct. 24

HOLLY RIDGE, NC (WWAY) — The Holly Ridge Police Department will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Holly Ridge Police Department lobby.
The collection is part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which provides an opportunity for people to safely and anonymously dispose of unwanted, unused or expired medications.
According to the DEA, its April 2026 Take Back Day collected more than 642,000 pounds of unwanted medications at 4,417 collection sites nationwide. Since the program began in 2010, more than 21 million pounds of medications have been collected.
Residents who cannot attend a Take Back Day event can also use authorized medication collection sites throughout the year, according to the DEA.
