Military exercise happening all week in Wilmington area
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Don’t be alarmed if you see military aircraft flying overhead this week in New Hanover County.
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base has an exercise scheduled in the Wilmington area from Monday through Friday.
According to the United States Air Force, the exercise is expected to take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, with additional units participating around Fort Fisher and Wilmington.
Seymour Johnson said they don’t have an exact time as to when the exercise will happen in Wilmington.
The purpose of this exercise is to validate the ability of the 4th Fighter Wing to effectively deploy and meet mission requirements in a real world scenario using civilian support elements.
