Two men accused of stealing heavy-duty equipment

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two men were arrested on numerous larceny charges out of New Hanover County.

From February 28 through March 20, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilmington Police Department have been jointly working multiple felony larceny investigations.

The suspects are accused of stealing heavy-duty equipment/vehicles and other expensive items like multiple tractors, multiple trailers, four wheelers, side by side ATV, and a large amount of lawn equipment.

“During the early morning hours of March 25, 2021, Detectives conducted surveillance on a Dodge Ram and found it to be occupied by John and Kelvin Sealey,” a release states. “The Dodge Ram was eventually seen pulling out onto College Rd. with a trailer loaded with (2) golf carts.”

Multiple patrol units conducted a traffic stop at North College Road and Shelley Drive.

As the vehicle was coming to a slow stop, Kelvin reportedly jumped from the front passenger seat of the truck, but was later found hiding in the Kings Grant wooded area.

The two men were served with a combined 28 charges which included felony larceny, felony conspiracy, injury to real property, and trespassing.

John is under a $400,000 secure bond and Kelvin is under a $270,000 secure bond.
