5,000 bags of heroin seized during months-long investigation in New Hanover County

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A 25-year-old man is accused of trafficking heroin following an investigation spanning multiple months.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation led to the seizure of approximately 5,000 bags of heroin.

Khalil Morris is charged with:

  • Two counts of trafficking opium or heroin
  • Conspire to traffic opium/heroin
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Resist/delay/obstruct a public officer
  • Maintain vehicle/dwelling controlled substance

He is in jail under a $4,025,000 bond.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Morris has several drug convictions dating back to 2017.
