NHSO: Man shoots brother during argument

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An argument between brothers turned violent on Thursday night, ending with one man sent to the hospital and the other charged with attempted murder.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy and Matthew Lambert began arguing at a home in the 7200 block of Copperfield Court.

Lt. Jerry Brewer said Matthew barricaded himself in his room, so that Timothy could not get inside.

Timothy then allegedly fired a shot through the door, hitting Matthew in the shoulder.

Matthew was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical for his injuries.

Timothy is being held on a $500,000 secured bond. He is in the New Hanover County Detention Center.

His first court appearance will be next week.
