John Rendleman is currently on his second stint with WWAY. John was a sports reporter & weekend sports anchor for WWAY from 1989 to 1995. He rejoined WWAY in January of 2008, but on the second go round he started as a news reporter. He's pretty much all sports now serving as WWAY's sports director/anchor for the last several years. John grew up in Salisbury. In fact he's always lived in North Carolina. Salisbury is the proud home of Cheerwine. Needless to say it's John's favorite beverage. After graduating from NC State with degrees in Political Science and Speech Communications John moved to Fayetteville. There he was the sports director of WKFT Television for over 5 years. John left Fayetteville for Wilmington and he's been on the coast ever since other than a brief stretch in the mountains of NC. In Boone John was a news reporter, news anchor and sports reporter at the Mountain Television Network. 2005 - 2007 were great years to be in Boone. John covered the 3-time national champion Appalachian State Mountaineer football team. He claims he was ASU's good luck charm. When he's not working you can occasionally find John riding his road bike, his mountain bike, playing disc golf(throwing a frisbee through the woods), tennis, squash, kayaking and hiking(especially when he's back in the mountains).
