Maddie was born and raised in the Carolinas, living in Raleigh until she attended UNCW in the fall of 2015. She originally went to study English and ended up adding a journalism minor after taking an intro class during her sophomore year. From there, she joined the campus newspaper, The Seahawk, and eventually worked her way from staff writer to assistant editor to Lifestyles Editor over her three and half years at the university. She loves using her passion for writing to make connections with people in the community. Maddie joined the WWAY team in October 2018, officially graduating from UNCW in December of 2018 with a degree in professional writing. She loves living in Wilmington and is excited to begin her journalism career in her college town.

Bonnie Pointer, founding member of the Pointer Sisters, has died. Publicist Roger Neal says Pointer died of cardiac arrest in Los Angeles on Monday. She was 69.
