BRUNSWICK BOOM: First orthopedic surgery center being constructed
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — As the Brunswick boom continues, the first orthopedic surgery center is officially going up in Brunswick Forest.
EmergeOrtho broke ground on its newest location Thursday morning.
According to a press release, an analysis of the 2016 state medical facilities plan revealed the need for a new operating room in Brunswick County to meet the needs of the growing population.
The three-story, 55,000 square-foot building will include one operating room and two procedure rooms along with treatment and physical therapy rooms.
Orthopedic Surgeon Michael Marushack says it is going to mean more convenience for many of their patients.
“The unique thing about this is that this will be the first facility where patients can be seen in the office, have their surgery and have their physical therapy all in one location,” Marushack said. “It’s the first center in Brunswick County to offer that.”
The new medical office building on Cutlar Crossing is expected to open in November 2019.
