Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation awards scholarships

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation awarded scholarships with a total value of $ 7,000 to five students.

The scholarship recipients are Jacob Williams, Jelene Avila, Katelyn Woodard, Morgan Bellamy and Hailey Woodard.

A spokesperson said the students will be attending UNCW, Salem College, Brunswick Community College, ECU and Pitt Community College.

The Charitable Foundation’s scholarships are designated for children of Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office employees and retired employees.

Criteria for the scholarship include school grades, an interview and other accomplishments.

The scholarship fund depends solely on private donations.
