Cape Fear Museum opens exhibit that is out of this world
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — What used to be a gift shop, has now been turned into an innovative space for children to learn.
The Cape Fear Museum cut the ribbons to its latest addition Thursday afternoon called the Space Place. Space Place is an interactive experience inspired by, and modeled after the International Space Station.
It is equipped with everything from food, astronaut suits, a microscope, even a robotic arm. It is a science exhibit children in the area can now use to understand what it is like to live in space.
“I think I’m having fun because I get to experience what a real life space station is like and what they use in a space station.” David Hendrickson, a 5th grader visiting Space Place, said.
Asonni Watson, another visiting 5th grader, said that not only is the exhibit fun, it is also informative.
“It can help little children learn about spaceships and science.” Watson said.
The Space Place was made possible by the GE Foundation and GE Volunteers of Wilmington.
