DEA agents conduct audit at Bladen County pharmacy
ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Drug Enforcement Administration agents conducted an audit this morning at a longtime Bladen County pharmacy.
Yellow police tape surrounded Anderson’s Drug Store on Poplar Street in Elizabethtown for hours Thursday morning while agents were on site.
Law enforcement came to the pharmacy between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office assisted the DEA.
Agents left around noon, with the pharmacy opening to customers right after that.
Owner Gene Anderson did not want to talk or go on camera, but someone close to the business spoke on Anderson’s behalf and said the audit was tied to the opioid crisis, to make sure pharmacies are doing what they are supposed to be doing.
She also said everything is ok and that Anderson’s does everything above board.
