Deputies searching for person who shot dogs
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Someone is shooting at man’s best friend in New Hanover County. The sheriff is now looking for the assailant after reports of two dogs shot in less than two weeks.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says the first dog was shot on August 5.
Its owner, who lives near Truesdale Road, found the retriever-mix shot in the leg and took it to the emergency clinic. The dog also had a broken leg.
Then, on August 17, a good Samaritan found a dog shot near 84 Lumber. The dog also had a broken femur.
No one claimed the dog so Adopt-An-Angel paid the $1,000 vet bill.
Deputies believes the shootings are related and the same weapon used.
If you know anything, call the sheriff’s office.
