WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Families can celebrate Halloween with a pumpkin hunt through downtown Wilmington while supporting local businesses.

The Downtown Business Alliance (DBA) is organizing the Downtown Pumpkin Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 31, from noon to 4 p.m.

During the event, families will explore participating downtown businesses in search of hidden pumpkins.

When participants find a pumpkin, they can scan its QR code and enter the name of the business to record their discovery.

Families who correctly locate the most pumpkins will have a chance to win prizes from the Cape Fear Museum, Children’s Museum of Wilmington and Wilmington Railroad Museum.

The event is also designed to encourage families to visit local businesses while enjoying Halloween activities.

Participating businesses can hide pumpkins inside their locations and offer Halloween specials or other promotions to encourage visitors to stop by.

Downtown business owners interested in participating must sign up by Friday, Oct. 23.

The Downtown Pumpkin Hunt will take place throughout downtown Wilmington on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, from noon to 4 p.m.

Families are encouraged to explore participating businesses and see how many pumpkins they can find.
