North Brunswick High student faces suspension after threatening joke

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Three students overhead a classmate making a threat at North Brunswick High School Thursday and immediately notified administration.

A Brunswick County School spokesman Daniel Seamans says the threat was meant to be amusing, but was highly inappropriate. The student will face suspension.

“We have been constantly reminding our students on all BCS campuses to say something immediately to a School Resource Officer, a school administrator, or staff member if they hear any kind of threat whatsoever,” Seamans said. “This shows that they are listening.”

Seamans adds “as the school year gets underway, it is a good time for all parents to remind their children of the seriousness of making any kind of threatening comment. They will not be treated as a joke even if they are meant to be one.”
