Prostitution investigation in Sunset Beach leads to two arrests

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Two people are facing prostitution charges after one allegedly offered sexual services in exchange for money to an undercover police officer in Sunset Beach.

According to a news release, the arrests come after an in-depth investigation by the Sunset Beach Police Department and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office of alleged prostitution in the Oyster Bay neighborhood in Sunset Beach. Police say witnesses assisted in making the arrests.

The release says an undercover officer posing as a client, met with Dawn Medlin at an address in Sunset Beach. Medlin allegedly offered sexual services in exchange for money to the undercover officer. Officers then arrested Medlin without incident.

Poston had driven Medlin to meet with the undercover officer and was allegedly fully aware of what was taking place. Police say Poston was then also arrested. Police say Poston’s young son was with him when he was arrested.

Medlin was charged with soliciting prostitution. Poston was charged with promoting prostitution.

Medlin is out on bond. Poston is in the Brunswick County Jail under a $255,000 secured bond.
