Sunset Beach man charged with child rape
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man is in jail accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old child.
Melvin Martin Sheppard, 54, is charged with two counts of first degree rape and statutory sex offense with a child.
According to the arrest warrant, the crimes happened between March of 2015 and August of 2018.
He was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center on Wednesday.
He is being held under a $500,000 bond.
