The family-friendly event invites visitors to explore one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating theaters while enjoying mini guided tours, concessions, and interactive demonstrations throughout the day.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience the theater’s historic features, including its famous “thunder roll” effect–one of only two still remaining in the world–as well as a snow-on-stage demonstration showcasing the venue’s traditional stagecraft effects.
Attendees can also enjoy popcorn and refreshments, take photos in front of the historic stage curtain–recognized as the oldest of its kind in the United States–and learn more about the theater’s long-standing cultural role in Wilmington’s arts community.
In addition to tours and demonstrations, Community Day will serve as the first opportunity for attendees to secure tickets for Thalian Hall’s 2026–27 season before they are released for online sale.
Admission is free, and organizers say the event is designed to welcome both longtime patrons and first-time visitors to experience the historic venue in a more interactive way.
