WPD arrests two men on drug charges following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two men are facing drug charges, following a traffic stop Monday night by the Wilmington Police Department.
Authorities said it happened around 11 p.m. in the 3600 block of Market Street.
WPD said officers discovered that the driver, 45-year-old Taryll Carpenter of Wilmington, was in possession of narcotics.
Authorities said a consent search resulted in the discovery of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and cash.
Officers conducted a probable-cause search of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of materials commonly associated with the manufacturing and distribution of illegal narcotics, as well as additional drug paraphernalia.
Police said the rear passenger, identified as 27-year-old Shawn Scott of Wilmington, was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Both Carpenter and Scott were arrested and transported to the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

Carpenter is being held without bond, while Scott is being held under a $1,500 secured bond.
