NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Springtime temperatures have arrived just in time for Azalea Festival.
"There's not a cloud in the sky. It couldn't be any better," Elizabeth Long said as she enjoyed the warm afternoon.
People all over the county were outside enjoying the nice weather and fresh air today.
"How does it feel guys? Wonderful! It feels wonderful," J.R. Terry said.
From a round of golf, to hanging out at the beach, people all over are embracing the thermometer's spike.
With the Azalea Festival just days away, the Belles are catching spring fever.
"It's like right as spring time comes out, it's like all the flowers are blooming and everyone is like happy, and it's like a really great way to kick off the spring season," Azalea Belle Rachael Caison said during this afternoon's Azalea Belle Tea.
Another way to kick off the spring season is with a green thumb. With the warm weather on its way, there's plenty of time to spend in the yard.
"It's nice to watch things grow, get your hands dirty and make things grow," Justin Taylor said.
Others chose to get dirty at the beach and play in the sand.
"(My children are) mad that they can't get in the water, but you know, it's too cold," April Hardee said.
The people who were not up for a surf or swim Sunday afternoon caught up on some rays.
"I haven't been out here in over a year so I came out here for the nice weather so we could get some tanning going on," Cynthia Shirley said.
