Deputies: Man arrested after robbing tobacco store

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – – A man is in custody after deputies say he robbed a tobacco store.

Brunswick County Sheriff Office Deputies were dispatched to the 4000 Block of Long Beach Road in Southport in reference to a robbery at Tobacco Road Outlet.

Deputies say the suspect demanded cash from the clerk and then ran away.

Within an hour, deputies and detectives arrested Gary Dixson Shelton, 44. Dixson is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $15,000 bond.

The entire amount of stolen cash was recovered. No one was hurt during the incident.
