UPDATE: Still no arrests in hit and run injuring coaches


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Troopers say there have been no arrests in the hit and run crash that injured four including the New Hanover High lacrosse coach and former head football coach.

That incident happened before 2:00 a.m. Saturday on Marsh Oaks Drive.

Lacrosse coach Keith Hatcher, former head football coach Frank Meehan, his wife Maureen and Jeffrey West were hit. Troopers said three remain in the hospital, including West who was seriously hurt.

A witness who saw the accident called 911 and told dispatch he saw a green SUV hit group of people while they were walking on the side of the road. The witness said the driver kept going into the Marsh Oaks Drive neighborhood.

“I was walking back from a bar and I saw a green SUV it hits these pedestrians,” said the caller.

The caller said they were barely responsive when he went over to help them.
