Seahawk Club director resigns, fundraising job moves

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The head of UNCW’s sports booster club is leaving, as the school changes the way it raises money for its athletics programs.

University spokeswoman Janine Iamunno confirms Rob Aycock, who served as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Executive Director of the Seahawk Club, will leave UNCW June 30.

In the meantime, UNCW will transition to a new position of Director of Development for Athletics. The school plans a national search to fill that position, which will report to Eddie Stuart, who is UNCW’s Vice Chancellor for University Advancement.

“With a renewed emphasis on fundraising and our ongoing commitment to strengthen UNCW Athletics, including support services for student-athletes, this new position will more effectively align Advancement resources with institutional goals,” Iamunno said in an e-mailed statement. “As the University prepares to embark on a new strategic plan, we want to position each of our divisions, including Athletics, for optimal success. The synergy between Advancement and Athletics continues to be a great asset to our programs, and we look forward to reaching new heights with the support of the Seahawk community.”

Aycock joined UNCW in April 2013.
