US Senate candidate challenging Burr’s conservative votes
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — United States Senate candidate Larry Holmquist made a stop in Wilmington today.
He sat down with WWAY to talk about his campaign.
Holmquist is challenging Republican Sen. Richard Burr. Holmquist is one of three candidates challenging the veteran senator in the Republican Primary.
Burr has been serving in Washington for more than 20 years. First, in the House of Representatives, and now in his second term in the Senate.
Holmquist said he decided to challenge Burr the day Burr voted to pass Obamacare. Holmquist said he thinks the Republican Party needs new representatives. He said Burr and others in the Republican Party have not been voting conservatively.
“They promise us that they are going to go up there and repeal Obamacare or stop the out of control spending or stop the immigration crisis and they don’t do anything and we’re just tired of the broken promises,” Holmquist said.
If he is elected, Holmquist said his priority for the country will be the national defense. He said his priority for North Carolina will be the economy. He said he wants to help small businesses grow by getting them substantial tax cuts and lightening the regulatory burden.
Holmquist said he wants to go to Washington to fight for his conservative views.
