Bucs cut Barth after trading up to draft kicker
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The handwriting was on the wall for Wilmington’s Connor Barth, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted kicker Roberto Aguayo in the second round of the NFL Draft Friday.
It was only just a matter of time before the Buccaneers parted ways with Barth. That happened today, when Tampa Bay released the Hoggard High School and UNC graduate just three days after drafting his replacement.
Barth played 12 games for Tampa Bay last season. He made 23 of 28 field goals attempts. He missed one extra point.
This is not the first time Barth has been cut. In fact it’s the third time the Buccaneers have released him in the last three years. In each case he was cut to make room for a rookie kicker.
Barth began his NFL career in 2008, when he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s also played for Miami and Denver.
