Police identify woman found dead in her Whiteville home

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) – Police are investigating after a 65-year-old woman was found dead in her Whiteville home.

According to the Assistant Coroner for Columbus County,William Hannah, Carol Greer of Whiteville was stabbed.

Officers responded to 907 Smyrna Drive in Whiteville around 3:36 p.m. after a neighbor called 911.

According to Whiteville Public Information Officer Hal Lowder, this is an active investigation and police are looking for the Greer’s white 2012 Subaru Outback.

The vehicle has NC tags ZYV-5224 and is missing from the residence.

The public has been warned not to stop the vehicle and to call 911 if spotted.
