Thief stealing from porch caught on camera

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A thief stealing from a porch was caught on a doorbell camera in downtown Wilmington. Now the victims are hoping the suspect is caught and brought to justice.

“I was at work. And we are able to see our front door camera on our computer and on our phones,” said Lauren Babson.

What the Babson’s caught on that camera was someone stealing a package right off their porch.  Then Lauren Babson said the same person came back.

“She rifled through our mailbox a little bit the second time and then left and we haven’t seen them since,” Lauren Babson said.

Now the couple is hoping whoever is responsible is caught.

“It’s sad that it’s the holiday season and people’s presents are probably being stolen. Luckily ours was Amazon and Amazon is great with replacing stuff but some people aren’t going to be that lucky and they’re going to lose money on this,” said Lauren.

With a baby on the way, safety is a top priority.

“I mean living downtown, it’s kinda a gamble. You don’t know what you’re gonna get and you know just having a security system adds a little piece of mind. Especially when you have a little one on the way. It’s a lot more to worry about,” said Matt Babson.
