Wilmington Fire Dept. rescues man hanging from roof


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department responded to an electrical explosion that left a man hanging from a roof in cardiac arrest in Wilmington on Saturday.

According to a press release, emergency responders arrived around 5:30 p.m. to find a man hanging from a safety harness on the side of a house near Princess Street and N. 5th Avenue. Officials say the injured man was conscious and alert but had severe electrical burns.

Fire department crews quickly used ladders to reach the man and lowered him down with a rope. The man was then transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by EMS.

Officials say the injured man was working on the roof when a piece of metal he was holding made contact with an electrical power line.
