Pender County wildfire burns into the night

Firefighters continue battling a big blaze in Pender County tonight. This one has chewed more than 600 acres and the cause is curious at best.

No more moratorium

The City of Wilmington received notification today that the moratorium on new building permits here has been lifted by the State Division of Water Quality. The state imposed the building moratorium because they didn't feel the City had an adequate plan to improve its leaky sewer system.

Wildlife officials work to keep boaters safe

We're heading in to Memorial Day weekend and that means people are hitting the water. Wildlife officials estimate that about 400 boats will be out in the Masonboro area alone. And more people means a greater chance of something going wrong. The Wildlife Resources Commission works to keep those boaters safe.

Pedestrian fatally hit by 18-wheeler

A pedestrian is dead after being hit by an 18-wheeler. The accident happened around 3:30 Wednesday morning just before the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.

Most road construction to stop for Memorial Day weekend

The state Department of Transportation says it will suspend most road construction over the Memorial Day holiday to help ease traffic delays and improve driving conditions.

82nd Airborne holds memorial for slain paratroopers

About 300 people turned out today to pay tribute to paratroopers killed in battle during the 82nd Airborne Division's memorial service at Fort Bragg.
