A former New Hanover County Sheriff's deputy made his first appearance in court this morning after SBI agents arrested him yesterday. Harold Lamont Fletcher, 37, is charged with one count of secret peeping and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.

A man was hit and killed on Cedar Hill Road in Brunswick County this morning. Highway Patrol says a truck passed a school bus in a passing zone around 6 a.m. and hit 61-year-old Samuel Howard Peterson who was walking in the road.

Thousands more people will be able to enjoy the North Carolina Azalea Festival's concerts at a larger location next April.
Organizers announced Cape Fear Community College's parking lot on North Front Street across from the Schwartz Center will be the venue for the festival's headliner concerts.

A former New Hanover County Sheriff's deputy is set to appear in court this afternoon on felony charges. The State Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged Harold Lamont Fletcher, 37, with one count of secret peeping and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.

Stephens will coach the softball team at SECC. She'll also be a physical education instructor. Monday was a light night for high school hoops, but we still managed to find action on the hardwood.
