A Camp Lejeune Marine who received the Silver Star for his actions during a patrol that was supposed to photograph an Afghan town says he's accepting the award on behalf of the troops that don't come home.

Crime in NC lowest since 1977; Wilmington also sees drop

video The North Carolina Department of Justice says crime is down across the state. According to its annual report, violent crimes fell by more than five percent last year, making the crime rate the lowest since 1977. There has also been a decrease in those numbers here in Wilmington.

Federal grant to help law enforcement in Columbus County

A federal grant will help law enforcement in Columbus County get on the same page. The county has received a Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) of $14,683 to increase communications and information sharing among law enforcement agencies in the county.
