WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Literacy Council is inviting the community to an evening of storytelling, conversation and literary inspiration as its popular Adult Story Hour returns on June 23 with two new featured readers.

This year’s event will feature New York Times bestselling author Emily Colin and Cameron Art Museum CEO Heather Wilson, who will share selections of short stories, novel excerpts and personal essays chosen from works that have inspired them.

“I love Adult Story Hour because it supports the work of the Literacy Council in the most unique, fun way,” said Anita Thomas, a former reader and attendee. “It is the most creative, wonderful evening at an amazing venue. You can come as you are and listen to someone read stories by authors they admire, who you can admire too.”

The event will take place Tuesday, June 23, at Azalea Station, located on Castle St. in Wilmington. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a meet-and-mingle reception, with the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

The evening will conclude with a question-and-answer session, giving audience members an opportunity to engage directly with the featured readers.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the door, pending availability. Proceeds from the event support the Cape Fear Literacy Council’s mission of providing literacy and educational services throughout the region.
